Sorry………I should know better than to diss on Mother Nature.  Last week I whined that she was apparently sleeping in on Sundays, and we weren’t getting any breeze until she awoke at noon.  Well, she woke up early last Sunday, decided to show us who’s boss, and blew all of us club racers off the lake for the entire day.  The end result was the same….. Sunday club races were kaput……….it just happened for a different reason.   Probably not a big shock, but the Hobies seemed to be immune to the heavy breeze and were able to sail through it in order to get their regatta in.

THE RUSS SCHURTZ MEMORIAL DAD/MOM/LAD/LASS RACE……….is this Sunday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m.  As most all of you know, this the annual opportunity for our X Boaters to let their parents take the helm, and either laugh at their elder’s humorous (and often futile) efforts to race around the course, or cringe in embarrassment, or both.

E FLEET PARTY………..is this Saturday, June 15, 6:00 p.m. at the Yacht Club.  Fleet Captain Eric Protzman has emailed all interested parties, so all you E Boaters have all the details that I don’t have.

NO FRIDAY NIGHT SOCIAL…….this Friday, June 14, or next Friday, June 21.  The board is working on future socials to promote sailing by partnering with community organizations, similar to what they did last year with the local fire department.  Stay tuned for more information.

SAILING CENTER PLEA FOR ASSISTANCE…………The first week of classes were fairly cold, and many of the attendees don’t have foul weather gear.  If you have child-sized foul weather gear languishing in your closets, please consider putting it to good use by donating the unused gear to the Sailing Center……and help keep the students from turning blue out on the water.

EARLY PARTY WARNING………….The next CLYC party is Saturday, June 22^nd, at Steve and Sue Taylor’s home on the south shore, 5246 Lakeview Drive to be exact. Festivities will commence at 6:30 p.m. and  the X Boat parents, C’s and E’s are in charge of hors d’oeuvres.
