Two of the earliest and most famous sailors on the lake were A.H Green and D.H. Green.  
A.H Green and D.H. Green, Raised on the Great Lakes, the brothers moved to Clear Lake in 1874, bringing with them one of the first sailboats, the Challenge.
"Black Diamond Fleet", Durning the late 1880 they started the first boat line located at the end of main street and included a number of sailboats and two steamers.

Main Street, This is how Clear Lake looked in the early 1900's. 
The old power plant of the Clear Lake Light and Power Company is on the right.  Located at the west end of Main street was the Green Brothers boat house on the left with their Black Diamond Fleet and Stevens boat house on the right with the white fleet.
