While you’re commiserating over the USA/Oracle team getting trounced in the America’s Cup and while you’re waiting for the warm days of summer to finally arrive, other stuff has been happening:

DAD/MOM/LAD/LASS RESULTS…………….In accordance with CLYC tradition, the annual “Race Where The Kids Get To Laugh At Their Parents Trying To Sail X Boats” was held on Fathers Day……..and the winners were:

  1. Z-11   Marcus and Leif Lundberg
  2. Z-7     Shane and Riley Cooney
  3. Z-16   Lexa and Billy Starbeck

MC NATIONALS AND C NATIONALS…….were also being held that same weekend, and Clear Lake was well represented in both regattas. Mark and Todd Tesar dragged their boats to Rush Creek Yacht Club outside of Dallas to compete in MC Nationals with 55 other boats…….Mark led the regatta into the final day and ended up 2nd overall, while Todd finished in the teens. Bill Nicholas and Steve Swift did C Nationals at Lake Okoboji and carried the banner both for the CLYC and for the OGSSC (Old Guys Still Sailing C’s).

AND IF I’M NOT MISTAKEN, THE CLEAR LAKE/OKOBOJI X REGATTA……….is happening as I write this, so good luck to our X Boaters who made the trip.

FOURTH OF JULY REGATTA…… this weekend, so look for back-to-back races on Saturday. I know it doesn’t feel quite like the 4th yet, but the corn is nearly knee-high and the carnival is in town……so it must be.

A THANK YOU FROM THE SAILING SCHOOL…………”On behalf of the CLYC Sailing School Board, we would like to acknowledge and say Thank You to John V. and Carolyn Hanson and the Hanson Foundation for their continued support of the sailing school. Their generosity is very much appreciated, in supporting our mission to keep our program growing strong. The success of the CLYC Sailing School is through donations and volunteers, and we are grateful to have so much support from our CLYC membership.”

And also, thanks to those of you who helped make the first sailing school fundraiser of the year (during the first Yacht Club party of the year) a success.

Please make sure you hug your favorite carney this weekend…….., Oz
