Take a deep breath……..It’s time to start preparing yourself for the end of the summer sailing season. Summer seems to have been particularly fleeting this year…… fact it never really felt like it arrived……….maybe that means we will have a beautiful autumn ala last year.

CLYC YEAR END YEAR BANQUET AND AWARDS CEREMONY……….will be Sunday, September 3 at the Yacht Club. Dinner will be served starting at 5:30 p.m., catered by Bread and Buttercreme (the folks who have been operating the old Sips location). The awards program will start at 6:30 p.m. The going rate is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

CLUB TRAVELING TROPHIES SHOULD BE RETURNED……….to Jeff Nicholas ( as soon as you can, but for sure in time for the Year End Banquet, so he can present them to this season’s winners.

BLOOPER AWARD NOMINATIONS…..are now open. A few have been received, but we need more dirt on your fellow CLYC members who have managed to “step in it” this season while putting boats in or out, going to regattas, or doing anything else around our lake or other lakes. Submit your nominations to the Keeper of the Bloopers, Stu Oltrogge ( so we can vote on them at the Year End Banquet.

ILYA CHAMPIONSHIPS……..were held at Lake Geneva a week or so ago, and Clear Lake made its presence known. Brad Price and his entourage banged heads with 60 or 70 other E Boat competitors. The Clear Lake MC fleet saw Mark Tesar, Todd Tesar and Stu Oltrogge all finish in the top 20 of the 60 boat fleet, despite the weather only permitting three races to be sailed.

And that’s about it, Oz
