Last weekend was a banner one for racing……….the weather gods apparently were not paying attention, and as a result we sailed every scheduled race in very pleasant conditions.  In fact, a handful of sailors who race both E’s and MC’s participated in seven races over the two day span, which has to be some kind of a record.

INTERLAKES REGATTA………which Clear Lake is hosting, is rapidly approaching. Races will be held Friday through Sunday, August 3-5.  Registration is at the Yacht Club on Thursday, August 2 from 3-8 pm. You can find the regatta NOR (Notice of Race) and SI’s (Sailing Instructions) on the CLYC website.

Fleet Captains take note– you need to contact all of your fleet members to find out who will be racing in the regatta.  Then get that information to Hank Anderson, the Secretary-Treasurer, as soon as possible. Hank is at hank.clyciowa@outlook.com.

Friday and Saturday Evening Regatta Events– All CLYC members are invited to attend the Friday (Aug. 3) evening event at the Yacht Club and the Saturday (Aug. 4) evening event at Jeff Brakke’s……..BUT IN ORDER TO ATTEND you will need to purchase tickets during registration on Thursday at an even $20 for each event.

TROPHY PHOTOS………CLYC’s new trophy guy, Mark Tesar, wants you all to know that this year the trophies will again be photos, but instead of action shots on the lake, we will be doing posed photos next to the CLYC sign at the Yacht Club.  We will be setting up two or three time slots for people that are racing to come down to the Yacht Club and get your photo taken…..and bring your crew(s).  If you have matching attire, this will be an excellent opportunity to wear it.  The photo shoot schedule is still in the works, but the first one will be July 21, which corresponds nicely with the next CLYC party.  We will announce the time next week.

Please try to attend one of these sessions.  If you don’t, your trophy photo might just be a nice picture of a smiling Mark Tesar, who can grace your trophy shelf for years to come.

GOOD LUCK……..to Emily Oltrogge and Brad Price (and their crews) who are headed to Lake Geneva this coming weekend for the E Invitational regatta………..and to Mark Tesar and Todd Tesar (who never need crews) who are trailing their MC’s to Lake Nagawicka for the MC Invitational.

YMCA BEACH BASH…….the CLYC is happy to be hosting the Mason City Family YMCA’s 2ndAnnual Beach Bash July 19 in conjunction with Thursdays on Main.  Wine Tasting and Appetizers at 6:00 pm (registration is required through the Y for $50). Live auction at 6:45 p.m. to support the Y’s Annual Campaign (including Packers@Vikings tickets, Hawkeye football tickets, Clear Lake Boat rentals, and much more).  Contact Heath Hupke at 641-422-5988 or hhupke@masoncityymca.orgfor more information or if you have questions.

Here’s to fair winds and following seas,
