Another disappointing weekend if you like to race sailboats…………but it was great for everything else.  This coming weekend will be all about the Interlake Regatta that we are hosting (and I suppose I should mention the guest appearance by the annual car show, as well).

TWO (MAYBE THREE) IMPORTANT INTERLAKE REGATTA NOTICES

If you want to attend the Friday night and/or Saturday night regatta events, you have to buy tickets during regatta registration at the Yacht Club between 3:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2 (that’s tomorrow).

Please be a spectator boat………..if you aren’t racing or crewing or doing volunteer work during the races, cruise by City Dock and the Yacht Club dock before races to see if spectators or crew are standing there praying for a ride.

Check out the free, free, free Smoking Flowers concertat the Surf Café on Thursday, Aug. 2.  Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the music runs from 7:30 – 9:30.

OFF LAKE REGATTAS…………Over the past few weeks, Clear Lake has sent sailors to all sorts of off-lake regattas……….specifically X Championships and Optimist Championships at Lake Pewaukee, the MC Invitational at Lake Nagawicka and the E Invitational at Lake Geneva.  In next week’s newsletter, I’ll try to give you a brief rundown of how they all went.

MC FLEET PARTY……..is Friday, August 10, starting at 6:30 at Fleet Captain Byron Beasley’s home on the south shore (5312 Lakeview Drive). Byron and Ann are providing the main dish, plates, silverware and beverages (including the carbonated adult beverage variety).  MC  fleet members just need to bring a side dish…….and their crew……..and interested family members.

E FLEET PARTY……….is the next day, Saturday, August 11, at Price’s home on the north shore (1423 N. Shore Drive).  Festivities commence at 6:30 p.m., so E Fleet members bring yourselves, your crew and your family to partake in heavy appetizers and beverages (again, including the adult variety).

LAST CHANCE FOR TROPHY PHOTOS………..is Saturday, August 11, from 6:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Yacht Club.  Bring your crew and (if you’re up for it) wear your matching sailing uniforms (if there is such a thing).

Later, Oz
